Last friday we had our wine-tasting at home in Lausanne, based on Burgundy and Bordeaux.

For the aperitive it was not a champagne, but a sparkling wine from Thierry Germain: Bulles de Roches.

The colour is pale yellow.
The nose is very nice, it is mineral and reveals flavours of pear.
The palate gives flavours of lemon, yellow fruits... It is very fresh...

The first wine, was a white, a Macon-Villages from Jean Thevenet (Domaine de la Bongran) 2003.

A great surprise for the first cuvée of the domain. The nose is mineral, straight, with citrus and pear. In the mouth, it is very sweet. I found again the citrus and the pear, and the minerality... It is a good wine. With this one we ate a fresh beetroot soup with a mozzarella foam.

Next, I have prepared grilled vegetables (reduced tomatoes, red pepper and zucchinis) with a feta sauce, and I poured a Bordeaux, a Chateau Larcis-Ducasse 1997.

It is not a great vintage, but the wine was very good... The colour was medium red, the nose on the black cherries, the smoke, the tobacco, the truffle and the leather... Very nice... It was just a pleasure to smell it.
The palate was on the black fruits, the spices and the licorice... interesting.

After that, back on the white, with a Cuvée Tradition 2003 from Domaine de la Bongran...

What a nice wine... The nose reveals hazelnut, brioche and plum... and the palate is very straight, plum, white flowers... The mouth is full of flavours, the finish is very very long... I love it. I served salmon with this one, tartare and smoked salmon with wasabi cream and caviar.

Then, we tasted a Clos de l'Oratoire 2005.

Maybe a little bit too early to drink it but it was very good anyway... The nose had a particulrity because I've found vegetal notes. The palate was very interesting, with smoke, dark chocolate and spices, and the finish was very long...
I cooked basil and lemon raviolis, served with a truffle sauce.

The last red was a Chateau La Confession 2001.

Another St Emilion Grand Cru, on the spices, the black fruits, the lead pencils shaving... Very interesting wine, it seems to be very young, I think I'll let the others bottles I have for a long time in the cellar.
We ate with this one, a tournedos Rossini with a rösti.

With the cheese (Puligny St Pierre, St Nectaire, Brie de Meaux and Irati), we tasted a Cuvée Levroutée 1994 from Domaine de la Bongran...

I have already spoken about this wine in an article : HERE for a 1999. With the 1994, the beeswax and the candied fruits were more present... The colour was amazing, a golden yellow very intense. What a great wine, especially with the goat cheese!!

That was a good night, with Julie, Holly, Oli, Marie, Peter, Travis, Andrew and his parents!!
